We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of StatusQ, our users, or the public.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we initiate a cascade deletion that removes your profile data, quiz answers, personality traits, bookings, connections, messages, device tokens, notification preferences, and feedback. Some anonymized or aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes. We may also retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS
- Database access is protected by row-level security (RLS) policies ensuring users can only access their own data
- Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth with secure session tokens
- Payment card data is handled entirely by Stripe (PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant) and never touches our servers
- Administrative database access is restricted and never exposed to client applications
While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Communications & Marketing
Push Notifications
With your permission, we send push notifications for event updates, booking confirmations, group matches, new messages, connection requests, and marketing communications. We store your device's push notification token (provided by the Expo Push Service) in our database. You can manage notification preferences within the app or disable push notifications entirely through your device's system settings. When you sign out, your push token is deactivated.
SMS Marketing
By providing your phone number and opting in, you consent to receive promotional SMS messages from StatusQ about upcoming events, new cities, and product updates. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. To opt out, reply STOP to any message. To get help, reply HELP or contact us at [email protected]. Opting out of SMS marketing does not affect your ability to receive transactional messages (such as OTP verification codes).
Email Marketing
If you provide your email address, we may send you marketing emails about events, new cities, and product updates. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us at [email protected]. Transactional emails (such as booking confirmations and account notices) are not subject to unsubscribe requests.
8. Location Data
StatusQ requests location permission solely to suggest your nearest city for dinner matching. We use low-precision location detection (city-level only) and do not continuously track your location. If you deny location permission, you can manually select your city. We do not store precise GPS coordinates.
9. Cookies & Local Storage
Our website may use cookies for essential functionality. The mobile app uses local device storage (AsyncStorage) to persist your authentication session and app preferences (such as dark mode and onboarding state). This data remains on your device and is cleared when you sign out or uninstall the app.
10. Children's Privacy
StatusQ is not directed at anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. Age verification is performed during account registration. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
11. State Privacy Rights
If you are a resident of California, New York, or another state with consumer privacy laws, you may have additional rights including the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information (which we do not engage in). To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app (via push notification or in-app notice) and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of StatusQ after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
13. Contact Us
